The history of Ahmed Al Maghribi

The brand was founded by Kafeel Ahmed. According to the Khaleej Times, he started out in Mumbai and became involved in the perfume trade in the Emirates. He began with one shop and a small workshop at home. Almost all sources give 2000 as the starting year; in November 2025 the brand celebrated its 25th anniversary in Dubai. A Qatari newspaper mentions 2001.

Since then the company has grown considerably. According to recent reports, Ahmed Al Maghribi has between 150 and 190 own stores in the Gulf states and employs more than a thousand people. Kafeel Ahmed is still involved as chairman and, according to the brand, also as perfumer. To mark the anniversary the K-Series was released: three fragrances representing the past, present and future of the brand.

Where does Ahmed Al Maghribi come from?

You sometimes read online that the brand comes from Saudi Arabia or Morocco. That is not correct: Ahmed Al Maghribi is an Emirati brand. It started in Dubai and the products are made in its own factory in the Al Jurf industrial area in Ajman. The barcodes of the products at Arabmusk also start with 629, the country code of the Emirates. The name ‘Al Maghribi’ means ‘from the Maghreb’ or ‘the Moroccan’ in Arabic. Why this name was chosen is not explained by the brand in the sources we found.

Parent company and sister brands

The brand is especially big in the Gulf states. According to Gulf News, in 2024 most stores were in the UAE, followed by Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The company also exports to countries including the United Kingdom, Italy, Bulgaria, Central Asia and the United States. In the Netherlands and Belgium the brand is still only available to a limited extent.
