Iris

Iris is extracted from the rhizome, not the flower, and is one of the most precious raw materials in perfumery—the roots must dry for years before they can be used. Its scent is powdery, cool, and slightly earthy, with a hint of violets. Iris gives a perfume a refined and understated, almost elegant character.
