History and origin of Khususi

Little is publicly known about the history of Khususi. We could not find an official brand website, and no founding year or founder is mentioned anywhere. American perfume stores describe Khususi as an up-and-coming brand from the United Arab Emirates that makes traditional Arabic fragrances for modern times.

Note the name: Khususi is also used as an addition to fragrances from other brands, such as Ameer al Oud Khususi by Manasik or Shams al Emarat Khususi by Ard al Zaafaran. In those cases it refers to a special edition, not to this brand.

Parent company and sister brands

There are clear indications that Khususi belongs to the same family as Al Fakhr. European web shops sell Khususi fragrances under the name Al Fakhar, and the website of the Freedom Fragrances factory lists fragrances such as ‘Al Fakhr Ameer al Oud Khususi’. The barcodes of Khususi also start with the same number sequences as those of Al Fakhr and Manasik. We have not found an official confirmation, so this is a likely link.

Al Fakhar Perfumes & Cosmetics Trading from the UAE belongs to the Attarwala group, a family business that, according to its own account, started with attar in Mumbai in 1925. The group makes Riiffs, Nusuk and Fariis, among others. At Arabmusk you will find these brands together in the Freedom Fragrance collection. Also read our articles about Al Fakhr, Manasik, Fragrance Couture and Nusuk.
